Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence in Financial Technologies: A Comprehensive Review
Abstract
The convergence of blockchain technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative innovation in the financial technology ecosystem. This review paper investigates the combined applications of blockchain and AI in enhancing financial transparency, fraud prevention, smart contracts, digital payments, decentralized finance, and automated financial decision-making systems. The study reviews existing research on AI-enabled blockchain architectures, distributed financial intelligence systems, and secure data-sharing mechanisms in banking and fintech industries. Particular emphasis is placed on how AI algorithms improve blockchain scalability, predictive capabilities, and operational efficiency within financial networks. The paper also evaluates challenges related to interoperability, cybersecurity risks, data privacy, computational complexity, and regulatory uncertainty. Through an extensive literature review, the study identifies future opportunities involving decentralized autonomous financial systems, explainable AI integration, and intelligent digital asset management frameworks. The review concludes that the integration of AI and blockchain technologies has the potential to redefine modern financial infrastructures by enabling secure, transparent, and intelligent financial ecosystems.
